In Amber Kivett’s YouTube video, Kickboxing For Seniors using the Lifepro Hovert Vibration Platform, Amber demonstrates a 10 minute seated kickboxing workout specifically geared towards those who may be older, in post-op, or individuals with limited mobility. Besides being a great workout to get your heart going and your body moving, studies also show the benefits for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and disorders relating to tremors. The Warmup
- Start by sitting on a chair with feet firmly on the platform.
- Can do this barefoot or with shoes, whatever is most comfortable for you!
- Begin with boxer jumps - Your toes stay in contact with the platform with only your heels moving side to side or back and forth.
- If rotation of the lower leg bothers your knee, you can just tap your heels. We just want to get your muscles moving!
The Moves
- Front Jab
- Cross Jab
- Hook
- Uppercut
- *Optional Speed Bag Circles
The Workout
- Rounds 1-2: While seated in your chair and feet on the vibration plate, complete the moves in sequence for 8 reps.
- Round 3: Repeat each move two times (1 each hand) faster for this round!
- Round 4: Speed bag circles (8 each arm).
And that’s it! Try for 10 minutes completing each move while doing boxer jumps on your Hovert platform. Remember to always work within your ability and progress at your own pace. You’ve got this!
